It’s been three years since a South Korean auto manufacturer set up shop in town. Now with the Daechang Seat Corp. expansion in Phenix City underway, the company has hit a growth spurt!
The expansion
According to reports, the $23 million Daechang Seat Corp. expansion in Phenix City is expected to bring hundreds of new jobs to the area. More specifically, the company plans to add an estimated 300 new jobs throughout a three-year period.
The Daechang Seat Corp. expansion in Phenix City will also include a new facility built on a 22-acre site in the Phenix Industrial Park, just off Highway 431. Construction has started with a projected completion date in early 2023.

The seat frame manufacturer settled in Phenix City in 2019 in a building located at 903 Fontaine Road. It was the second plant established in the U.S. The first is in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Established in 1979, the company currently has 24 factories worldwide. They are the first cooperative company to work directly with Hyundai and Kia as well.
Considering the close proximity to the Hyundai plant in Montgomery and the Kia plant in West Point, Phenix City is an ideal location for the automotive seat makers.
